Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.
He scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat to the Arizona Cardinals when he retrieved a blocked punt.
"He was a cherished team member and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys stated.
"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "gave his all" into every moment.
"I saw him strive his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the news.
