Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has proclaimed a disaster situation - defined by circumstances including significant loss of life, extensive property destruction, and disruption to means of livelihoods and everyday existence for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, called in the region Tino, ripped through the heavily populated island of Cebu, inundating whole settlements and sweeping cars through the streets.
Many thousands of people have been evacuated, while some are sheltering in temporary accommodations.
