Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
