Alexander Kleytman

Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.

She told the events before the attack, stating they had been standing together when the shooting began. “He moved to protect me because he wished to be near me,” she said.

The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having faced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.

The French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.

Those Injured

Of the 42 people taken to hospital, a significant number remain under care, with a number in serious condition. Those hurt comprise two officers who responded to the attack.

Evan Zlatkis

Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He described he listened to “a large number” of shots.

“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I sustained a gunshot wound. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
